Club History

The Recker R/C Club was formed in 1987 and was named Recker Road R/C Club.  The club at that time was located on Recker road just off of Pemberville Rd.  Prior to the club being formed, the flying field was operated by the Toledo Weak Signals RC Club.  The Weak signals voted to close the Recker flying site at which time some of the frequent users of the Recker road site decided to form the Recker R/C Club and took over the lease on the field, and it was then that the Recker R/C Club was born.

At that time, 34 members of the new club applied for an official AMA Charter. Many of the charter members are still in the club in 2007 as this history is updated.  The new charter members set the club focus on a no contest-no mandatory meetings-no work party type of club.  Our members can enjoy flying when they want to.  Our members and their families enjoy this laid back style of flying for fun.

In 1997, the flying field lease was lost to land development, and the club for a short time flew from a full size airport near Stony Ridge, Ohio.  Next the members located and leased our present flying field on Fostoria Rd.  After about a year of preparation the newly renamed "Recker R/C Club Field" was opened.

Our club averages between 40 and 50 members each year, and for any one thinking of joining, our club has signed a 10 year lease that expires in 2027.
